Nilsonian Timely – 2025, issue 4

Hear ye, hear ye!

Hello, hello. I’m back to hit you with yet another (un)timely update about what’s going on in this crazy world, or at least the parts of it that concerns me – because I think we can all agree that these are the parts worth following, ammi right?

Just a week ago, give or take some hours, a play I was in made its debut at the DATS Teaterfestival, which took place at Frederiksberg this year.
The play is called Den første kvinde (The first woman) and sees four current female actors taking a look at the lives and accomplishments of four distinguished Danish women of history. These are, in order of appearance, Emilie Sannom (actor & stunt woman), Nielsine Nielsen (medical doctor), Dagmar Hansen (performer & pin up girl), and Nina Bang (politician).
This was my first stage performance in about a year and a half, and while it was quite nerve wrecking, wondering if I was still up to it, it was also a great feeling getting back into it.

The festival had several interesting and inspiring plays, and I met several old friends there as well, so all things considered, it was a great experience. As I wrote last time, the plan is still to get the play on the road, but more on that in a later update.

The podcasting world holds a few new tidbits as well.

First of all, Michelle Perry-Brooker, writer and actor for the
I is for Investigate podcast, has put together a wonderful e-book, compiling annotated scripts for the entire first season, a producer introduction by Neil Brooker, cast profiles, and more.
Going for a mere $2 over at Ko-Fi, I’d call that quite a bargain! You can get yours right now, following this link:

Since my last update, I is for Investigate has also released another minisode, called Table for Three, in which Jennifer, Sylvia, and Anton get together to celebrate Jennifer’s anniversary with the group over an… interesting meal…
After this, things will be quiet for a while, as we’re gearing up for season three of the podcast, which will be a take on H.P. Lovecraft’s The Colour out of Space!

Lägerelden also has quite a few new episodes out and about, with the largest one being a five part special on a true crime. It’s called Tinderkvinnan från Ljusdal (The Tinder Woman from Ljusdal), and I play a police interrogator in it, appearing in episodes two and three, so keep your ears peeled for that! I’m playing around with a dialect I’ve never recorded in before, which was a bit frightening but at the same time a whole lot of fun. It’s a perfect dialect for comedy, but as this was a serious matter, it was a tight rope to walk without going overboard with it. I think it turned out well, but check it out for yourself, and let me know what you think in the comments below.

The last bit of news I’d like to call attention to is actually something that has extremely little to do with me, but I want to mention it regardless. Anders Molin is a prolific author of Danish youth adventure fiction, and in his latest book, Under Sølvet (Below the Silver), he has named a couple of characters after my wife and myself – how cool is that?!
In addition to this, I also helped brainstorm a few names of fictional metal bands he used in the book. See if you can spot them, and even more interestingly, see if you can figure out their inspirations.

Well, as the porky little pig said; “Tha-tha-tha that’s all, folks!”
Let’s talk in the comments, or check in again in the next one!
